Next-to-last question

My handsome 12 year old (taken on the first day of school this year) and some more swap cards from Regionals...

Today the youngest of my 'brood', Nathan, turns 12. I can't believe he'll be a teenager next year already. Where has the time gone? I'm taking him out for a grown-up late lunch this afternoon and then for a little bit of shopping. Tonight there's stuff going on at school so we won't have a huge celebration. It's kind of sad, I like to make a little bit of a big deal for them, but it's just not going to happen tonight. Not that he minds, he's a very easy going child most of the time. He already told me today that I'm the best mom ever! What a sweet boy! Happy Birthday Nathan! (and just 'cause he still giggles when I sing it "you look like a monkey and you smell like one too!")

Usually by this time of year I'm more than ready to decorate for Fall and Halloween. Unfortunately, this muggy weather is not cooperating. It's really making me mad... I'm stubborn and I refuse to turn the A/C back on but I'm not sleeping well because of it and I don't even feel like putting out the fall stuff. Oh well, I guess I'll wait a few more days. It's Ohio and the weather is bound to change soon, right? By the way, someone told me that they heard Christmas Music in a commercial this week. Less than 100 days... oh my!

So, my question for the day is:

What is your favorite holiday to decorate for? And, how early do you think it's ok to put out those particular decorations?

I love to decorate a little bit in the house for each of the holidays & even birthdays but my favorite time of year is Christmas. I'm a bit of traditionalist in that I don't like to start decorating until the day after Thanksgiving and then it all comes down on New Year's Day. A month before is good for putting up decorations.

Happy Birthday to your son!!

I decorate for Christmas, and I do it the first weekend in November. My husbans hates it. I just think if I am going to go through all of the trouble to put it up, I want to enjoy it for awhile. What is not to love about a tree with a million lights. Right? :o)

I do take it all down the weekend after Chirstmas. I have a 4 and 5 year old, and the tree starts looking shabby before Christmas because they can't keep their hands off of anything.

I love to decorate for the fall but usually only have it up for a few weeks because I procrastinate too long. For Christmas I don't put anything up until after Thanksgiving.
