Pineapple Hello Card

A huge Thank You to everyone that took time out on Saturday to stop by for my Catalog Kickoff Event. It was so fun seeing (and meeting) so many of you. I hope you enjoyed stamping and hanging out as much as I did!

Congratulations to all of our Door Prize Winners: Heidi, Terri, Rosie, Michele and Cathy. If you weren't still here when we drew names, I'll have your prizes with your orders when they come.

I want to share the card we made (for those that couldn't be here). I think it's a little unusual because of the way it was done.

First: Here's the finished card

There are some things you might not notice at first, but that really add to the final look.
  • We started with Whisper White and stamped the pineapple first (in two parts, see below for more info) Leaves were stamped with the new in color, Emerald Envy and the pineapple was stamped with Crushed Curry. And then we stamped the textural images from Touches of Texture with So Saffron inl.
  • Then, we swirled the So Saffron ink over the images with a Stampin' sponge (except for the green on the pineapple, because that leads to greenish/yellow ink pads... Ask me how we figured THAT out!)
  • The Hello portion is popped up but the ends are flat. This was done by stamping and punching out two of the same images and then trimming the ends off of the one with the word hello. Hello was then popped up. The hello stamp and punch are both from a great little bundle called Thoughtful Banners. Did you know you save 10% off the total cost when you purchase Stampin' Up!'s Bundles? You'll find them all through the catalog... The banner looks like this from the top:
Ok, so that pesky pineapple really got me thinking. I wanted to be able to stamp it in two different colors but it was a little tricky getting the stamp inked up just right without ruining my ink pads. So, I took a deep breath and I cut it in two. Yep, you read that right. There's a little bit of a gap and I just carefully cut the leaves from the base of the pineapple. I can always piece it back together on a block if I want to stamp it all in one color, but this made it SO much easier to do two different colors on the image! My stamp now looks like this: (Isn't that so cool?!)
