SCC2 Elements of Style Card

Here's my first card of the week with the colors from yesterday's color challenge. I really like how 'Spring-y' the colors are :) The second picture above shows a little of the depth behind the phrase where I used the Stampin' Dimensionals. The background was created by using markers directly onto the stamp; Certainly Celery vines, Real Red flowers and So Saffron flower centers. I stamped it randomly all over the front, then I cleaned off my stamp and inked it up with Bashful Blue, stamped it off once and then continued to stamp all over the background again. The ribbon got a little lost so I wrapped it around the card twice to make it stand out a little better.
The stamp set used is one that we were given at Leadership in January. It's called Elements of Style and it'll be available for purchase beginning May 1st. I really love it. The phrase is a little hard to read in this picture, but it says "Life is a matter of moments". Sweet, eh?

Products used:
Stamps: Elements of Style (Item #118611. Remember, this won't be available until May 1st.)

Cardstock: Kraft (102125), Real Red (102482), Whisper White (100730)

Classic Ink Pad: Bashful Blue ( 105209)
Stampin' Write Markers: Certainly Celery (105106), Real Red (100052), So Saffron (105114)

Other: 3/16" Red Gingham Ribbon (104832), Modern Label Punch (116630), Sizzix Punch Windows Magnetic Movers & Shapers (115953), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), and Soft Subtles Brads (106954) I also used, again, the Sale-a-Bration Scallop Trim Border Punch (118402) that's only available for 2 more days FREE with a $50 merchandise purchase.
Thanks for looking, and don't forget to let me know if you make something with this color scheme!
Terri :)

Sunday Color Challenge #2

Guess what I did yesterday? I stopped in at Old Navy and purchased 5 new pair of flip-flops. So, Mother Nature... If you're listening, my toes are now ready for warm weather. Got it? Good! Ha, ha!

I had such a great time playing with last week's colors, so I decided to go ahead and do it again this week! I was inspired by some yarn that I'm knitting into a dishcloth right now. It actually has Red, White, Yellow and Kraft fibers in it. I wanted a little bit more variety so I added Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery ( 'cause you KNOW how I love Certainly Celery! :) And, c'mon, you *know* you want to play along. Send me a link to your blog (put it into the comments section) or a picture of your creations via email to terri.meehan@att.net and I'll show them off for you!

In case you were wondering, I've been able to put together the pictures for my color challenges using Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio software. I absolutely love this software!!! I also use it for my blog headers. Hmmmmm, speaking of which, I think I'm due for a new one and this week's Color Challenge colors would be SO 'Me'!

There are so many things that can be done with this software and I've been thinking about putting together some classes on how to scrapbook and put together other projects with it. Do me a favor? Would you let me know if that's something that interests you? Thanks!

Hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful, and maybe, if you have a few spare moments, you can do something creative. I promise, it's good for the soul!

Terri

Happy Saturday! Well, my husband decided to take yesterday off and, since my youngest was on Spring Break this past week, we spent the day with him. Took him out to lunch and then basically ran errands and took care of doctor's appointments the rest of the day. Oh, and we got Riley bathed and shaved. He must like it because he's been practically prancing around here ever since we got him home last night. He looks so cute! I got before and after pictures and I'm planning on doing a "Hairy to Handsome" page. Sad that I'm planning pages for the dog's photos and I'm still way behind on the kids. Don't you think? :) Oh, and don't think I didn't have to fight for every picture. The dog is as bad as the kids... they all HATE having their picture taken by the 'Mom-arazzi"!

So today's project is a little matchbook that holds a clippy made with my extra Beautiful Wings butterflies. In the first picture you can see it closed, and the envelope it fits into is the 3x3 envelope from Stampin' Up! (Love these, they're great for little gift enclosures!). Second picture shows the matchbook open with the clip positioned inside. And, the third picture better shows you what the clip looks like. Basically it's just a large paper clip, decorated so that it can brighten someone's day :)
Here are the supplies used:

Stamps: Holiday Blitz (Item 114982)

Cardstock: Barely Banana (102701), Bermuda Bay (115317), Whisper White (100730)

Inks: Bermuda Bay (115655), Barely Banana (101170)

BigShot Die: Stampin' Up! (Exclusive) Beautiful Wings Embosslit ( 118138)

Punches: Large Oval (107305), Scallop Oval (114889)

Other: Bermuda Bay 1/2" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (115610), Silver Brads (104336)

Basic Office Supplies: Stapler, Large Paper Clip

Have a great Day, I'll be back with a new color challenge tomorrow!

Busy Day!

Well, I spent the last couple of days cleaning up my stamping room and getting stuff prepped for tonight and tomorrow morning's classes. I have another project to show you, but I just don't have the time tonight to edit my pictures and post it. I'll come in and post pictures tomorrow. Until then, go stamp something... would ya? :)

Have a great day and I'll 'see' you tomorrow!

Beautiful Wings Card

I got a bit of time to play again yesterday. This card is based on a lovely little card that I saw here, made by Jodi-Danielle Kutz http://jodikutz.blogspot.com/2010/03/got-little-done-today.html . I switched out a few things, including the colors (I wanted them to match my color challenge from Sunday). I really like both cards. What do you think?
Tip for working with "threes" (see last picture above): First, line up the outer two items, making sure that the borders are equal distances from the edge of the paper. Then you can 'split the difference' by centering the 3rd item between the two. I love using this tip because it always makes things look like they're centered perfectly!!!!

Supplies Used (All Supplies Stampin' Up!):
Stamps: Holiday Blitz (pg 44, Item 114982), En Francais (pg 134, Item 109521)
Ink: Barely Banana (101170), Bermuda Bay (115655)
Papers: Barely Banana (102701), Bermuda Bay (115317), Glorious Green (101697), Whisper White (100730)
Other: Silver Brads (104336), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Big Shot Die-Cut Machine (113439), Beautiful Wings Embosslits (118138), Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder(117335), Bermuda Bay Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (115610), and Very Vanilla 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109016).
Punches: Scallop Square (112081), Small Oval (107304), Large Oval (107305), Modern Label (116630)

The Scallop along the bottom was made with the Scallop Trim Border Punch (118402), which is one of those Sale-a-bration items you can receive FREE right now with a $50 purchase. You need to hurry though, you can only get it free until March 31st and I'd hate to see you miss out on such a treasure! There's even a matching Scallop Trim Corner punch (118870) available in the current Occasions Mini Catalog. Be sure to check them both out and email me right away terri.meehan@att.net if you want to get a set of your very own! Or, shop online, 24/7 at this link: http://www.terrimeehanstamps.stampinup.net/

Thanks for looking and have a great 'rest of your day'!

Some of you may wonder how I came up with yesterday's color challenge. Well, the truth is, I dream in colors! Not just any colors but Stampin' Up! colors. When I woke up yesterday morning I had these colors stuck in my head and so I just went with it.

Really, though, color inspiration is everywhere. I look through magazines, print ads (love the ones from Target!), the Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog. It's amazing what you can come up with if you just open your mind.

Don't tell me you 'just aren't creative'... Before I started with Stampin' Up! I had done lots, truly LOTS of different crafts- I've been crocheting since my Grandma Leedom taught me at the age of 5. My mom used to sell Tri-chem fabric paints so of course I played with those for a short while. I got hooked on Cross-Stitch when she sold for a company called Creative something that was all about needlearts. My mom and dad always encouraged me creatively, but I never felt truly creative until I started stamping, specifically with Stampin' Up! Their products are so easy to work with. Even after 12 years, it's so amazing to me everytime I make a card and love it :)

So, enough of my Monday morning rambling. Above is the first card I did with yesterday's color challenge. I apologize, again, for my cruddy photographer skills. On the second picture you can see a little bit more of the details including dry embossed lines around the perimeter of the image, the image itself was watercolored with blender pens and ink pads on watercolor paper and then Crystal Effects was added to the top of the eggs to make them shiny and raised.

Supplies Used:

Stamps- Nature's Nest (pg 111, Item #113826), Heard from the Heart (pg 142, #111644)

Classic Ink Pads- (pgs 155 -157) Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede, Glorious Green, Barely Banana

Cardstocks- (pg 155) Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Bermuda Bay

Other Items: Stazon Jet Black Ink Pad (pg 190, I use this for watercoloring because it doesn't smear!), Watercolor Paper (pg 158), Blender Pens (pg 192), Stampin' Dimensionals (pg 192), Crystal Effects (pg 101055)

Since it's going to be raining all day, it looks like I'll get to play some more with these colors.
See you tomorrow!
Terri

Well, Hello!

Hello March, and Hello to all of you that I haven't talked to in so long. Wow, I can't believe February is over. It seemed to last forever and yet, it was gone in the blink of an eye.

I feel like the fog is lifting and I'm looking forward to some (promised) wonderful weather over the next week. Warm weather is always a good thing in my humble opinion :)

So, I am definitely feeling better today. I'm going to be calling everyone that signed up for my ill-fated card class for February. I'm going to be holding it tomorrow night (Wednesday) and Thursday morning. There is still room if you want to sign up. All of the details are listed in the February Cards post (hint, it's the most recent post with pictures).

I hope you get the chance to stamp something this week, and I hope to see you soon!
Terri :)
