Class Postponed to January

Sorry, stress at Christmas almost always ends up in making me sick. Apparently this year is no different because I just got back from the doctor and my 14 year old & I both have strep. I had a horrible headache most of last week, but just wrote it off to stress and that crazy wind. Apparently, my body was trying to tell me to slow down :( So... In the interest of not giving anyone any unintended 'gifts' for Christmas, I'm postponing the December Card Class to the 13th and 14th of January. More details to come.

Please comment or email me if you have any questions!
Thanks!

Still working...

Did you all have a good weekend? Mine was pretty low-key, just mainly working on class stuff and hanging out with the boys. I was able to complete 3 of the December Card Class cards, but I'm having some problems getting pictures uploaded to my blog today. I'll keep working on that but in the meantime I need some input from anyone that's planning to be here for the class...

Do you want to do a Christmas Card as one of the cards? The rest of the cards are not Christmas or Holiday cards and I didn't really plan to make one, but I'm second-guessing myself. What do you think?

Christmas Tag Duo Photos

Finally finished these examples for the Christmas Tag Duo Class. I had a hard time narrowing down the tags we'd be making, but I really like the way they turned out!

The first one is the Band-Aid Tin shown with all of the tags we'll be making to fit inside. And the second is the Tag Box we'll be making. I do have one change to the original description, but it's a good change... instead of making a dozen tags for each project, we'll be making 16 tags for each for a total of 32 tags. (I TOLD you I had a hard time narrowing them down!!!)

Let me know as soon as possible if you want to join us. I may have to order additional supplies depending on how many people want to attend. And, don't forget, all class attendees will be entered into a drawing to win the Hostess Level II Exclusive Christmas Punch stamp set. We'll be using the same set for the tags in the 4-compartment box, so you'll have lots of ideas for using this set! One stamp set will be given away in each class.

I'll be back later to update my Tag Duo post with pictures!
Have a great day :)

Calendar Class Repeat... Dec 6th

2010 Calendar At a Glance Class

Date: Sunday, December 6th

Time: 1:00-approx. 3:00pm

Cost: $35 with your choice of a 16x20" Black or an Oak Brown Frame *or* bring your own frame and your cost is just $20. Note: The frames provided will be different than the ones shown. They are a very basic frame but they are wood, definitely a higher quality than the one I used.

Join us as we re-create this stunning 2010 Calendar. It's a very impressive 16x20" big. Everything will be pre-cut and ready for you to stamp and assemble. You get to choose either an Oak Brown or Black frame, and Numbers (for the top of the calendar) in either Bordering Blue, Mellow Moss or So Saffron- these colors are shown on page 157 of the current catalog if you need to see them. We'll actually be using all 3 of these colors plus Soft Suede to complete our calendar. This would be lovely hanging in an office or to give as a Holiday gift this year. Payments for class may be turned in that day, but I only have enough supplies for 4 more students so please let me know as soon as possible if you'd like to join us. Please bring a strong adhesive (SNAIL, Sticky Strip or ATG), a ruler (the clear quilting rulers work best, as long as they have 1/4" increments, and is at least 12-18" long) and scissors with you to class.

2010 Year at a Glance Calendar / Class

I'm so in love with this project. It was a bit of work figuring everything out, but now that it's finished... Wow! (Don't tell anyone, but I was *supposed* to be working on my card class for tomorrow! ;) It's an impressive 16x20" and, as usual, my photography doesn't do it justice. I used lots of goodies from the Holiday Mini Catalog: the 1020 Calendar Kit, and the Note to Self and Charming stamp sets, as well as the Medallion and French Script Background stamps from the Stampin' Up! 2009/2010 Idea Book and Catalog. I'll be offering this as a class on Wednesday, November 11th, see details below.

A La Carte Christmas Cards Class- Again!

Good Morning. Isn't is such a beautiful, sunny... Oh, wait. Scratch that! It's raining like crazy and it's supposed to get worse before it gets better. I'm ok with rain when I get to stay home and stamp (or even go somewhere and stamp), but I do NOT like sitting in the rain at football games. And, it looks like I'll be doing just that tomorrow morning. Can you think of anything more fun than sitting on cold metal bleachers, in the cold rain, at a football game? The only reason I'll be there is to watch my son, Timmy, play. In his own words, he's "a beast on the field". LOL! That always makes me laugh :)

Anyway, as usual, I digress. This post is supposed to be about Christmas Cards. I had a lot of people tell me that they wanted to come to my last a la carte class, but they were out of town or already had something scheduled for that day. So, for anyone that wants to get a head-start, or for those of you who like your cards to be in the mail the day after Thanksgiving (Annette, Amy- you know who you are! And, by 'in the mail', I mean that they like them to be delivered TO the recipient on that day. Crazy, huh? LOL!) Anyway, for those of you who missed the last class I'm offering it again. Same cards, same price, different day, different doorprizes, snacks, etc. Here's the info, please let me know if you have any questions.

Hope you're able to stay dry on this wet, dreary day,
Terri

Class: A La Carte Christmas Cards
Dates: Morning: Friday, November 20th- Time 10am- 3pm
*OR* Evening: Friday, November 20th - Time 6-11pm
Price: Determined by the cards you make, Price per 10 is as follows (and just to clarify, that is for 10 of the same card):
  • Cards # 1, 2 are $10
  • Cards #3, 4, 5 are $12
  • Cards #6, 7, 8 are $14
Place: Terri's Home

I know it's a little early to be thinking about Christmas, but wouldn't it be great to get a head-start on some beautiful, hand-made cards this year? I'm offering this class at two different times. YOU design your class by choosing the cards you want to make. You'll make TEN of each card that you choose, envelopes are included. You can make 10, 20, or 1000, it just depends on how many you want! Bring your own adhesive (and plenty of refills too, it takes a lot of glue to put together this many cards!) and bring your own scissors. All other supplies, fun, laughter and snacks will be included. You can come and go as you please during the times listed. If you have limited time, you can come and stamp all 10, put one together and then take the rest home to finish at your leisure! Payment is due with registration, but no later than Friday, November 6th. After that, I may not have enough supplies on hand and I won't have time to order more. Email me at terri.meehan@att.net or call 614-777-9288 to make registration / payment arrangements. Thanks!

Busy, busy, busy...

I know... again, right?! I've been so busy cutting cardstock for the last week (four classes this week including the Christmas Card ala carte classes) that I haven't had time to update the blog. I'm going to sit down with a calculator and figure out just how many pieces of paper I've cut this week, It's got to be thousands... seriously! I'll be back in a day or two with pictures from my classes this week and then I'll be posting some new classes too. So don't go away, I'll be back soon!

Have a wonderful day, and if it's not wonderful then you should think about stamping some-thing. It really is therapeutic!

Hugs!
Terri

Good Friend Card

Just a simple little card to share with you today. This is one that we did at the August Cards class last month. I used Glossy White Cardstock, along with Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede and Whisper White. This card features two-step stamping with stamps from the Good Friend set and I added a knot in Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon. I love it :)

I've been getting everything ready for the Frank n' Stuff class (tomorrow night and Thursday morning) see post from 9/16 for more information. Let me know if you'd like to join us, there's still room!

And now, I'm off to start on some creations for the rest of October's classes. Stay tuned...

Blog Candy Winner Announced!

Here's the pitcher with all of the comments cut into strips...

And now my very handsome husband is digging for just the right comment...

A-ha, he found one. He's so excited for the winner! (Isn't he handsome?)

And the lucky winner is Karen! I think she only had ONE entry all week, how's that for luck? Congratulations, Karen! Contact me and we'll figure out how to get your goodies to you :)

9.26.2009

Happy Saturday!

This is a card that we made at my August Cards Class. I love how classic the color combination is. We used Cameo Coral and Basic Black. The stamp set is called Great Friend (page 107 of the current Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog), we also used the Curly Label Punch (pg 186,187), the Lots of Tags Sizzix Dies (pg 197, this is a SU! exclusive die set!), and Black Gingham Ribbon (pg 183). Isn't it gorgeous?

I know, it's rainy and drizzling outside and I should probably be disappointed in the weather today. So, why am I so happy? I look at this as a great excuse to stamp and scrapbook all day! Woo-Hoo! I've got my iPod on and I'm singing and working on all these little projects that pile up in my mind ;) Yes, I said in my mind! I'm one of those people that has to work out most of the details for my projects in my mind. That way, when I sit down to actually work, I have a lot of the project already planned out. Sometimes people ask me how I get stuff done so fast and that's how I do it. Don't get me wrong, there are also times when I don't get much of anything done and I'm ok with that! Like last night, for example. I got together with some of my Stampin' Up! buddies for some stamping time (ok, yes, we did have dinner and snacks too!). The biggest thing I got done last night was mounting 3 stamp sets. We had a great time sharing ideas though and I came home wanting to: a) clean my stamp room b) finish class kits and c) make some SHIMMER MIST! The last one is thanks to my friend Jen, who literally hit me over the head with the idea. Seriously, she threw a bottle at me and hit me on the head! Intentionally! LOL!

Next time you come to a class, ask me to show you these cool new products that Stampin' Up! is carrying. They're Shimmer Paints that come in 3 different colors; White, Champagne and Gold. Each one runs a measly $5.95 plus s/h and taxes. When mixed with alcohol you can make your very own shimmer sprays. They are SO cool. (Just ask Jen! I hope her husband and daughter are quick enough to escape because Jen is shimmering everything in sight!) Unfortunately, I haven't been able to take a picture yet that does this product justice. I did use it as a paint on one of my Christmas Cards (The Bashful Blue and Elegant Eggplant one with the snowflakes), but I'm not sure how well it shows up in the scan.

Well, I'm off to stamp (and shimmer) something. I hope you make time on this dreary day to do something that makes you as happy! I'll be announcing the Blog Candy winner tomorrow so you might want to go back and make sure you answer all of my questions from the last couple of weeks. See you tomorrow!

And, your last question for the chance to win the Blog Candy:
What do you look for in a blog? And, how often do you check out your favorites?

9.23.2009

Next-to-last question

My handsome 12 year old (taken on the first day of school this year) and some more swap cards from Regionals...

Today the youngest of my 'brood', Nathan, turns 12. I can't believe he'll be a teenager next year already. Where has the time gone? I'm taking him out for a grown-up late lunch this afternoon and then for a little bit of shopping. Tonight there's stuff going on at school so we won't have a huge celebration. It's kind of sad, I like to make a little bit of a big deal for them, but it's just not going to happen tonight. Not that he minds, he's a very easy going child most of the time. He already told me today that I'm the best mom ever! What a sweet boy! Happy Birthday Nathan! (and just 'cause he still giggles when I sing it "you look like a monkey and you smell like one too!")

Usually by this time of year I'm more than ready to decorate for Fall and Halloween. Unfortunately, this muggy weather is not cooperating. It's really making me mad... I'm stubborn and I refuse to turn the A/C back on but I'm not sleeping well because of it and I don't even feel like putting out the fall stuff. Oh well, I guess I'll wait a few more days. It's Ohio and the weather is bound to change soon, right? By the way, someone told me that they heard Christmas Music in a commercial this week. Less than 100 days... oh my!

So, my question for the day is:

What is your favorite holiday to decorate for? And, how early do you think it's ok to put out those particular decorations?

9.21.2009

Need a couple of days...

Hi all! I know that I'm late posting the last two questions from last week, but I got a deluge of stuff piled on me and I'm exhausted. I hope to be back on Wednesday and Thursday of this week with some upcoming class information as well as the last two questions! Thanks for your patience! In the meantime, I'm sharing some more pictures of swap items received at the regionals a couple of weeks ago. Aren't they gorgeous?

9.17.2009

Question of the Day...

Sorry, no pictures today, I've been running like crazy doing 3 classes in two days. Last one is tonight, so hopefully I'll post some more of my upcoming classes over the weekend :)

Your question for the day is: How did you get started in rubber stamping or scrapbooking? And, what was the first thing you made?

I'm off to take a nap, I've got 30 minutes to spare and I can hear my bed calling my name...
Have a great evening!

Petals a Plenty Swap Cards / Day Three's Question

Today I'm sharing a couple more swap cards that I received at the Regionals last week. They both use the Petals a Plenty Sizzix Embossing Folder out of the new Holiday Mini Catalog. Wowsa!

Card #1- Made by my very own downline, Mindy Gray. Isn't it beautiful? She used Glossy White, Bashful Blue and Night of Navy Cardstocks. The Dove is stamped in Night of Navy Craft Ink (I don't think I've ever stamped with our craft inks on glossy paper, but I have to tell you, I'm going to have to do it soon. The image looks almost velvety, it's just beautiful!). She also used the Bashful Blue Taffeta ribbon and the Sizzix Top Note die. Sigh!

Card #2- The owner of this card emailed me this morning and actually thanked me for my swap at the regionals. How sweet is that?! I just had to laugh because the girls I was with and I oohed and aahed over HER card for a long time on Friday! It's amazing how a little addition of White Sakura Gel Pen in the center of these flowers made them POP! She actually had to glue 13 different pieces of paper together for this stunning creation. She used Basic Black, Bravo Burgundy, Handsome Hunter, Night of Navy and Whisper White cardstocks . Stamped images are from the Serene Snowflakes and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets. In addition to the Petals a Plenty Impressions folder, she used the Eyelet Border, Scallop Oval and Large Oval Punches. This card is just amazing in person!

I hope you're enjoying seeing the swap cards, I feel like I see something new everytime I look through them. It's very inspiring for me :)

For the chance at the blog candy, here's Question #3:
What is the latest and greatest Paper Crafted item you've made? Was it a scrapbook page, a card or an altered item. Maybe it was a little piece of Home Decor? Won't you tell us a little bit about it?

And now, I'm off to stamp something. I'm working on a few 'magical' items for an upcoming Halloween Treats class. I should be ready to post it sometime this week, so be sure you come back now, ya hear? ;) I hope you have a great day!

9.14.2009

Swaps I Received / Day Two's Question

These are just a few of the beautiful swaps I received from the Regionals in Cincinnati last week. Please ignore the flower petals peeking out at the top, I had to lean the cards against something to get my pictures and it shows behind the short cards.

Some details on the cards:
Card #1- This card was made by my stamping buddy, Dawn Kuhn. I love the color combination: Bermuda Bay, Rose Red, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede and Whisper White. She used the I Heart Lists and Favorite Things stamps, and the Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper. She also used the Texture Jumbo Wheel, several sizes of circle punches, the Modern Lable punch and the Sizzix Flower-Daisies #2 Die (doesn't the flower look almost real?). The brads are just the icing on the cake! Stunning!

Card #2- Made by another long-time stamping pal, Linda Pagel. Linda and I have been in several swap groups together through the years. She's so talented that Stampin' Up! asked her to show us some things at regionals. Wow! We were all totally impressed with the sliding cards she demonstrated. Real Red, Close to Cocoa, Soft Suede and Whisper White are the colors used in the card shown. Linda used the Sparkly & Bright and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets. She also used the new Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper, Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon, the Word Window and Wide Oval punches to make this adorable card!

Card #3- I THINK this card was made by one of my downline, Dawn Buck (I say I think, because she didn't put her name on it and it's a shame because it's adorable!!!) She used Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and White for her colors. The card was made with the Sizzix Clear Circle die, the Scallop Circle Die and the Birds & Blooms Die set. She also used the Print Patterns Designer Papers in Real Rose. So cute, I love it! Edited to add: Dawn emailed me this morning to thank me, but says this is NOT her card. So I told her she's forgiven for not putting her name on this card that wasn't hers ;) I do have her card in my stack to post though so you'll all get to see it later this week!

The question for today:
Where do you find inspiration for your papercrafting? Is there a certain magazine, or book, blog, etc. What really gets your wheels turning?

9.13.2009

Blog Candy!

Wasn't today just a beautiful Sunday? And, wasn't the whole weekend just gorgeous for that matter? I love this weather and I'm trying to live in the moment because I know what's coming (winter) and I'm not happy about that, but I'll worry about it later. Right now I'm just going to enjoy the here and now :)
How would you like to win some Blog Candy? As you can tell by the picture above, there's not really any candy involved, just some fun goodies from Stampin' Up! The winner will receive 30 of the 6x6 Print Patterns papers. That's 6 each of five different colors; Night of Navy, Ruby Red, Sahara Sand, Mellow Moss and Really Rust. The papers are all double sided which ends up giving you 12 options per color. They're normally only available as part of a Level 1 Hostess Gift. Our winner will also receive a spool of 5/8" Satin Ribbon. This ribbon is Whisper White, but can be dyed with our classic ink pads or reinkers to match any SU! color! And, they'll also receive a $10 Gift Certificate from me good for any current Stampin' Up! product or my SU! classes. You must redeem the gift certificate by October 31st.
So, just to recap, our winner will receive:
  • Thirty 6x6 Print Patterns Papers
  • One spool of 5/8" Satin Ribbon in Whisper White
  • $10 SU! Gift Certificate

I'm going to keep this contest open for one week and you can enter ONCE for each question. If you enter more than once per question, all of your entries for that question will be tossed (sorry!). Each day this week, I'll be asking you a question. Comment on the post with your answer and you'll be entered for the day. It's as easy as that! Saturday, September 19th will be the last question and the drawing will take place next Sunday. Please do not post anonymously as I won't know who to award the prize to if you're drawn! Good Luck to all of you!

Today's Question is a two-parter and you need to answer both parts to qualify:

Do you currently take any type of papercrafting classes (rubberstamping, scrapbooking, altered items)? Why or Why Not?

Saturday's Post (on Sunday!)

Well, even though I thought I had this post all set to roll in on Saturday morning (knowing that I'd be a little tired from the SU! Regionals and at my son's Freshman Football game in the morning), I messed it up.

Sorry about that :) I know it's going to come as a shocker to some of you, but I'm really not perfect. No really, I'm not! LOL!

But I digress. Above you're seeing pictures of the two cards I took to regionals yesterday to swap. First the single pics, and then a picture of ALL of the swaps I made. I think there were around 60 of them total. Let me tell you, it took me two solid days of stamping and glueing and... I LOVED every minute of it. It was so rewarding when I got to swap them out, everyone was very sweet and all of the appropriate ooohs and aaaahs were made. Talk about making me feel good! Watch for versions of these two cards when I offer my Christmas Card Workshops (details coming shortly, the first one will be offered in October!).

In the next few days I'll be posting pictures of some of my favorite swaps received. Those of you coming to class on Wednesday and Thursday will get the chance to see all of them in person. I learned SO much at the seminar and I'll be sharing it with you in the form of blog posts and lots of classes throughout November and December. Stay tuned for more info!

Now I'm off to stamp something, and I suggest you do the same. Have fun!

Sunflower Rolling Penny Card

Here it is, the revised Rolling Penny Card for this month's card class (see previous posts for more info). I liked the other one, but I'm totally in love with this one. Wait until you see how cool it looks in person. The sunflower (super easy to do!) rolls from side to side as you tilt the card. Is it wrong to be in love... with a card?! Make sure you sign up for class if you haven't already. Don't forget, I have kits available too!

Check back tomorrow to see the swap cards I'm taking with me to the Stampin' Up! Regionals in Cincinnati today. I'm getting super excited, it should be a great day!

And now, I'm off to stamp something... in Cinci with about 300 of my closest Stampin' buddies! It just doesn't get much better than this :) Have a great day!

Sweet Treats Card!

Here it is, the Sweet Treats Card for this months card class (Sept. 16th &17th, see posts below). I was having a hard time really showing the depth on the insert. Isn't this cool? Stampin' Up! just came out the Sweet Centers stamp set that all of the Sweet Treats Cups work with. It's shown on pages 6 & 7 in the Holiday Mini Catalog which you can see here: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/terrimeehanstamps/catalogs go down to the bottom and click on "download PDF" link below the Holiday Mini Catalog. If you don't have one already, be sure to pick up your own copy when you come to class next week! Don't forget, tomorrow I'll show you the new and improved Rolling Penny Card for class. Email or call if you still need to sign up, I'm about 2/3 of the way full already.
Now, I'm off to finish up my swap cards for tomorrow. Have a great day!

Sweet Treats card info and correction...

Hello all. I hope you've had a good day. I got to stamp with some of my demonstrator friends and it was so wonderful to draw on each other for ideas. What a great way to spend an afternoon. I highly recommend stamping with your friends if you get the chance. You encourage them a bit, they encourage you a bit, you laugh and vent and generally come home with works of 'heart' that you never imagined at the beginning of the day. It's a really great feeling!

As for the Sweet Treats card. I know I promised it today, but I'm having a little bit of technical difficulty with getting the picture loaded. I'll work on it again in the morning when my eyes are a bit fresher.

And, I saw the CUTEST flower today that made me totally second guess my previously posted rolling penny card. So, with your permission, I'm going to change it for the Sept 16th & 17th class. I like the one I already have posted, but I absolutely am in love with the newest version. Keep an eye out for the revised card in Friday morning's post.

Normally I would sign off and stamp something, but I've been at that most of the day... I think I'm going to head off to bed. I wonder if I'll be able to sleep with all of these fun ideas rolling around in my head?! Ah, if only stamping time lasted as long as a football game. Imagine what all you could accomplish!

Good night, I'll 'see' you tomorrow...

One of a Kind - Faux Tearing w/ Emboss over

Well, I hope you all had a nice Labor Day weekend. Yesterday was a little wet and rainy for my taste, and I did have to work, but other than that I loved spending time at home with my family. Any day we're all together just has to be a good day!

This is lovely card number 3 from my Sept 16th & 17 Card Class. This technique is so much fun. I left the shiny spot in the photo so you would 'see' the emboss over. I just love it and I think you will too!

And now I'm off to stamp something! See you tomorrow!

Leaf Lines Rolling Penny Card

Here is the Rolling Penny card we'll be creating in the upcoming card class (Sept, 16th & 17th). The scalloped circle actually rolls from one side of the card to the other as you tilt the card. Too much fun!

Correction: Oops! Scratch all of that, we'll actually be doing the rolling penny card shown in my Sept. 11th post. Check it out and see if you don't like it better :)

And now I'm off to go stamp something... See you tomorrow :)

Branch Out Watercolor Card

I love the colors on this fun watercolor card. And, there's no coloring, it's just straight stamping! This is just one of the four cards we'll be making in my next Stampin' Up! Card Class (Sept 16th & 17th). See previous post for more details.
And now I'm off to go stamp something... See you tomorrow :)

============================

And, while we're on the subject, some of you may be wondering WHY I do my classes this way? Why would I have you make 3 of each card? There are several reasons why it works, and I'll go into those in just a minute.
The reason I began doing 3 cards is this: While teaching a card class one day I had a student who was just in LOVE with one the cards she had finished. I asked her who she was going to send it to and she said "Oh I never send out the cards from your classes, I just save them for ideas". Several others around her agreed. Wow! That really struck a chord with me and made me kind of sad to think that all these cards were sitting in a box not making anyone happy. So, I decided to figure out a way that my students could have the best of both worlds; a card to keep and a couple to send. 3 was really the perfect number!
Along the way, I've really come to love this format for many reasons. Among them: It seems like products are packaged so that they're easily divisible by 3 and that makes prep work easy. And, the best thing? Students get to try a technique 3 times! That means they can really have a trial and error type of environment where they aren't stressed out because they know they have two more tries at it. I love that!!!
==================================
And back to this month's class:
Email me @ terri.meehan@att.net or call me @ 614-777-9288 to sign up for class. Class kits are available to those who can't attend for $23 (I do a lot of extra prep on these including putting one card together completely so you have a sample). For best availability, kits should be ordered prior to class.
Check back over the next few days, I'll be posting one of these cards each day so you can see what you'll be making! And, I'll be posting a contest next Sunday for some fun Blog Candy! (not really candy, but Stampin' Up! goodies :)
Hope to see or hear from you soon!
